How it Works
The urgency to generate environmentally-friendly renewable energy is well accepted. In order to meet growing energy demands across the province, the Ontario Power Authority has created the Micro Feed-In Tariff (microFIT) program, an offshoot of its Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program. The program allows homeowners and small business-owners to earn extra income and reduce their carbon footprints by generating their own renewable energy. Project owners are paid a fixed price for the electricity they produce over a long-term contract, allowing them to recover the initial costs of the project as well as to earn a reasonable return on their investment. The process of initiating a microFIT project is fairly straightforward and can be managed by even a small household.
Logitest Solar Inc. specializes in the installation and management of photovoltaic projects for solar energy harvesting under the FIT and microFIT programs. Solar energy projects are the most common, and by far the most easily-managed, microFIT projects. The infrastructure required for solar energy farming is relatively limited; its basic components being the solar panel, the inverter and the racking system. The solar panel consists of a number of interconnected photovoltaic (PV) cells, which generate DC power when exposed to sunlight. The inverter converts the generated power to AC electricity, which is then fed into the electrical grid. The project grid is connected to the province's electricity distribution system, allowing the project owner to sell the electricity they generate. The OPA offers a fixed price of 80.2¢ per kWh of power generated through rooftop photovoltaic projects, and 64.2¢ per kWh for ground-mounted projects under microFIT.
Logitest Solar offers home, business and landowners with complete turnkey solutions for solar energy harvesting under the FIT and microFIT programs. We oversee the entire process involved from the initial application to connection of your system. The products we supply have a warranted service of 25 years. We also submit the application and other required for your project paperwork to the OPA.
Our company offers a number of distinct advantages over those of our competitors. The photovoltaic solar panels we offer are made here, in Canada. They are least affected by shading, thus yielding consistent energy generation. The solar energy units we install, are designed in such as way as to ensure that the owner never has to deal with a module mismatch issue. In addition, these photovoltaic units require minimal maintenance, giving you longer uptime and higher energy yield.
As of January 2011, the OPA requires all FIT and microFIT projects to meet a minimum requirement of 60% in domestic content. All Logitest Solar Inc. solar systems meet the domestic requirement.
